Plate IThe problem

A quick fix fixes nothing if it ignores the root cause.

A strained muscle, a worn joint, an old injury that flares the moment you push. Treat only the sore spot and the pattern that caused it is still there, waiting to pull you back.

You ice it, rest it, take something for the pain, maybe get a few needles where it hurts. It eases, then it returns, because the faulty movement, the weak or overworked muscle, and the myofascial strain behind it were never addressed.

What most pain care does

Rest, ice, medication, or a few needles in the sore spot. Real relief while you are on it, and the cause still sitting there when you stop.

Where I work

I assess posture, movement, and strength to find the driver of the pain, treat the muscle, fascia, and channels that hold the pattern, then retrain it so the change lasts.

Six factors feeding one another in a cycle: faulty movement, muscle imbalance, myofascial strain, pain and guarding, weak stabilizers, joint overload. Faulty movement Muscle imbalance Myofascial strain Pain and guarding Weak stabilizers Joint overload The cycle Treated one piece at a time, it holds
Fig. 1  Why the pain comes back

Release the tight muscle and the weak one still lets the joint collapse. Strengthen it and the faulty movement overloads it again. Each treatment is right about its piece. Nobody corrects the whole pattern.

My job is to find the link in that chain that is driving the rest, treat it, and retrain the movement so the cycle actually breaks.

  1. Assess

I evaluate your posture, movement patterns, strength, and coordination, with a full Western orthopedic exam, to find the real driver of your pain, not just where it hurts.

YouBring your history, your injury, and what makes it worse.
MeScreen the whole kinetic chain and pin down the pattern behind the pain.
  2. Treat

Acupuncture at the muscle motor points, the myofascial pathways, and the traditional channels that hold your pattern, integrated with manual therapy to release and rebalance.

YouLie back for a comfortable, focused treatment.
MeNeedle the motor points and work the tissue to reset the muscle and fascia.
  3. Correct and sustain

Corrective exercises to make the postural and mobility gains stick, plus nutrition, supplements, or Chinese herbs when they speed the healing.

YouDo the handful of corrective exercises between visits.

One integrated system.

Methods chosen for your case, not a template, working together to get results no single one can.

  • 01

    Sports Medicine Acupuncture®

Acupuncture at muscle motor points, myofascial pathways, and traditional channels, guided by applied anatomy and biomechanics. It resets the muscle and releases the pattern driving the pain.

  • 02

    Manual therapy and corrective exercise

Hands-on work to free restricted tissue, and targeted exercises to retrain posture and movement so the change holds long after you leave the table.

  • 03

    Chinese herbal medicine and nutrition

Custom herbal formulas, nutrition, and targeted supplements that support healing from the inside and keep the whole system strong.

Chinese herbs laid out on paper with a brass scale and packets tied in red string.

The goal is not simply to relieve pain. It is to change what caused it.

Every herb and supplement I prescribe is pharmaceutical grade, from reputable, certified sources. Sourced this way, they exceed FDA quality standards and are cleaner than most of what fills the average American diet.

Notes

Common questions.

What is Sports Medicine Acupuncture?

A modern approach that integrates Western sports medicine, myofascial research, applied anatomy, and biomechanics with traditional Chinese acupuncture. It goes beyond easing symptoms to find and correct the factors causing the pain, so the change lasts.

How is it different from regular acupuncture?

It is an advanced, integrated system that requires specialized training and certification beyond a conventional acupuncture education. It combines the core principles of acupuncture with applied anatomy, movement, and musculoskeletal function to take the effectiveness of the medicine further.

What conditions do you treat?

Orthopedic, sports, and work-related injuries throughout the body: necks and backs, shoulders and elbows, hips, knees, ankles, and conditions of the face such as TMJ and Bell's palsy. If you do not see your issue listed, ask. It is still likely I can help.

Are you a medical doctor?

I am a doctor of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (DAOM), not an MD. I work alongside your physician and do not replace medical care or emergency treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the injury and how long you have had it. Many people feel a change within the first few visits. I will give you an honest sense of the plan after the first assessment.

Do you take insurance?

I am out of network. I can give you a super-bill to submit to a PPO. Treat any reimbursement as a bonus, not a given.

Where are you located?

Century City, Los Angeles. Sessions are in person.
